Growth in Fiskars 15.5. – 25.9.2016

The Cooperative of Artisans, Designers and Artists in Fiskars — Onoma hosts an exhibition for the entirety of the summer, based on the theme Kasvu / Tillväxt / Growth. The Cooperative was founded in 1996 and thus, the exhibition simultaneously celebrates it’s 20th year anniversary. One of the primary aims of the exhibition is to present all three disciplines — craftsman- ship, design and contemporary art — on equal footing. The exhibition theme, ”Growth”, is open to interpretation. Growth can literally mean the process of something increasing in size; something that has grown or is growing in the countryside or an urban environment; or child that grows into an adult. One can also read deeper social and personal interpretations into the theme — it’s not always easy to grow. The ambiguous nature allows the participants to approach the theme from their own perspective. A large amount of the works on show will be exhibited for the rst time. The exhibition is curated by gallery owner and photographer Katja Hagelstam. Artists and designers representing a total of 60 different areas will take part in the main exhibition at the Copper Smithy in Fiskars Village and a satellite exhibition at the Lokal Gallery in Helsinki. The exhibition includes the works of the following individual artists, artist collaborations and artist groups:
